Paper Towels vs. Hand Dryers: The Argument for QTowels in Public Restrooms

6/22/2015

Since hand dryers were invented, there has always been a back and forth over which is better to have in public restrooms: paper towels or hand dryers? While there are arguments to be made for either side, the fact of the matter is that both options are still commonly used. And when it comes to your business, you’ll have to make the choice that is best for you. But for sake of argument, and In defense of using paper towels, and Sanitor’s Qtowels in particular, here are few things to consider:

  • Most public restrooms have doors to deal with; only large places such as airports and sometimes entertainment facilities have a large enough restroom layout where they are not required (think of when you can turn several corners before getting to the stalls). In that case, many people do not want to wash their hands only to have to then touch the door handle with their clean hands. Many prefer to use a paper towel in this case, and of course if there are none available, they may get a negative opinion of the cleanliness of the bathroom.
  • One of the arguments against paper towels is often that people on average tend to use 2.5 sheets of paper towel. But with the unique texture of Qtowel, there is no need to use more than one as it is super absorbent. Surely, the occasional person will still use more than one just out of habit, but these are a good alternative, especially if you are a company that is already using paper towels and would like to save some costs.
  • Our dispensers come in 5 different colors, are sleek, easy to use, and do not take up much room at all. And you can purchase them for only $14 each. To purchase a cheap hand dryer, you’ll be looking at starting out at $100 each. The nicer ones are upwards of $300 each.
  • Our dispensers dispense unfolded towels, one at a time. This reduces the amount of waste that often occurs with folded paper towels that tend to come out in multiples, causing many to spill out onto the floor, or causing customers to take more than they really intended to.
  • The extreme durability of Qtowels allow them to double as cleaning cloths for cleaning the restroom and other parts of your building. They handle messes extremely well with only one sheet. And when used for cleaning mirrors or windows, they won’t pill and leave behind paper particles.

Certainly the decision is entirely up to you based on how effective each method would be for your businesses. Qtowels are great start-up and small businesses who are looking for low initial costs and who do not have thousands of visitors regularly, companies who are already effectively using paper towels in restrooms and would like to see some costs cut, and for companies who want to combine savings by integrating these paper towels into other areas of their business. And, of course, they are available for personal use at home as well. To learn about the other benefits of Qtowels not discussed here, click here for more information.
